Unique Pregnant Woman Statue

Well, hello, it's time for Friday Fun! ;) If you love babies, you've come to the right place! LOL

This is one of my favorite statues of all time! It's called "The Virgin Mother", apparently. When I first saw it I had no idea what it was called, who designed it, who came up with the idea, what was the point of it? But I LOVED it. This interesting statue of a pregnant woman stands tall right in the middle of Midtown, Manhattan at the Lever House.

Some say "it's gruesome", "it's definitely not pretty"...and some exclaimed how can people have lunch sitting right next to it and starring at it (since it's right in the middle of all things offices)? I personally didn't do it (had lunch while starring at her), but I would have no problem eating while looking at her. Before I knew any of the controversies about the statue, I liked it without any bias. I think, it's beautiful.

Creator of this statue is Damien Hurst. And he is apparently known for making his art work based on the theme "death". When I saw this statue, I didn't think of death at all. I just thought it was realistic, beneath our beautiful skin, there is after all the not so pretty structure of bones, muscles, and tissues. It was just part of reality.

Anyway, if you're in that area of Park Avenue-53 street, take a look at the statue, it's located at the courtyard of the Lever House. It's definitely worth checking it and hey, it's FREE!!

Apparently, there is a second version of it in the city of London!
